CHANDIGARH: Third seed Jack Draper of Great Britain pulled off the biggest upset he topped top seed Siddhant Banthia of India 2-6, 7-5, 6-0 in the boys singles semi-final of the ITF Junior Tennis Tournament being played at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.
Siddhant won the opening set 6-2. Down by a set, Draper staged remarkable rally. He clinched the second set at 7-5. After splitting the first two sets, Jack Draper was in total control in the third and deciding set which he won without conceding a game 6-0.
Jack Draper will now face Dhruv Sunish of India in the final. Dhruv Sunish defeated Sergey Fomin of Uzbekistan in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 in the second semi-final.
In the girls singles semi-final top seed Mahak Jain of India defeated third seed Thasaporn Naklo (Thailand) in an easy match 6-2, 6-2. In another semi final fourth seed Axana Mareen of Belgium blanked Rhea Verma of India in an easy match 6-0, 6-0.
In boys doubles final top seed Uisung Park / Hua-Chen Yu defeated Vasisht Cheruku / Jack Draper in a three setter match 6-3, 3-6, 10-7.
In the girls doubles final fourth seed Kuan Yi Lee / Mananchaya Sawangkaew defeated Adehhina Esther / Heath Gamma also in a three setter match 3-6, 6-3, 10-5.
