Chandigarh Varsity women lift overall trophy

CHANDIGARH: Chandigarh University of Mohali (Punjab) pipped University of Mumbai with a wafer-thing margin of one point to claim the overall trophy in the All India Inter University Powerlifting (Women) Championship organised by the Panjab University here today.
With Rashi and Simran Jeet Kaur winning gold medals today in the 72 and 84 kg categories, respectively, Chandigarh University emerged championship with 43 points. Mumbai Univeristy finished runners-up with 42 points while Calicut University got third place with 41 points. Hosts Panjab University finished fourth with 40 points.
72 kg: 1 Rashmi (Chandigarh University, Mohali) 510 kg; 2 Manpreet Kaur (GNDU, Amritsar) 455 kg; 3 Prajakta (University of Mumbai) 425 kg.
84 kg: 1 Juqushte Priyadarshani (Shivaji University) 520 kg; 2 Usha B.N. (Mangalore University) 472.5 kg; 3 Abhivami MV (Calicut University) 465 kg.
+ 84 kg: 1 Simran Jeet Kaur (Chandigarh University, Mohali) 542.5 kg; 2 Rajpreet Kaur (Panjab University, Chandigarh) 495 kg; 3 Revanthy (Calicutt University) 495 kg.
Overall Championship: 1 Chandigarh University, Mohali 43 points; 2 University of Mumbai 42 points; 3 Calicutt University 41 points; 4 Panjab University, Chandigarh 40 points.
