Chandigarh Press Club hosting badminton and athletics

CHANDIGARH : The Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27 will organise badminton and athletic events for the members and their families. Announcing this today, Press Club general secretary Barinder Singh Rawat said that badminton competitions will be conducted on January 7 and 8 at Press Club courts while the track and field competitions will be hosted on January 15 the Sector 7 Sports Complex.

If there is no specific number of entries in any event, it will be cancelled.

Badminton competitions will be held in various age groups of men's/ women singles (up to 49), 50 to 60, 61 and above; boys/ girls singles (up to 15 years); men's/ women's doubles up to 49; from 50 to 60, 61 and above; mxed doubles up to 49, from 50 to 60 and 61 and above.

Entry fee: Rs 50 per player for singles and Rs 100 per pair for doubles.

Boys and Girls: Rs 30 per entry.

Last date: Last date for submitting entries in Club office is January 5 while draws will be taken out on January 6 at 11.30 a.m.

For athletic competitions, the age groups are: Up to 45 (both men and women), 46 to 55 (both men and women), 56 to 64 (both men and women), 65 and above (both men and women) and Up to 15 (both boys and girls)

Men/ Boys: Races: 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 800 m for all age groups.

Walk: 5000 m race walk for all age groups (not for boys); 3000 m Race Walk for age group 56 and above

Throws: Shot put and javelin. Jumps: Triple Jump, Long Jump, High Jump.

Events for women/ girls: Races: 100 ms, 200 m, 400 m for all age groups.

Race Walk:3000 m all age groups (not for girls)

Throws: Shot put and Javelin

Jumps: Long Jump

Special event: 100 meter race for all the members of governing council who do not take part in regular competitions.

There is no entry fee but registration is required.

Traditional Games for women and Children:

Skipping rope race, three legged race, potato race, sack race.
