Ajay, Shrut, Nimrat and Sanvi champions

CHANDIGARH: CHART trainee top seed Ajay Singh won the boys under-16 singles title in the CLTA-AITA Championship Series (CS-7) Tennis Tournament at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.

. Ajay Singh defeated Sarabjot Singh of CLTA in straight sets 6-3, 6-0. Ajay played consistently and used variations of backhand slice to help win his match from Sarabjot.  Ajay show very good temperament and high energetic game during the final match against Sarabjot.   

In the boys under-18 singles finals second seed Shrut Mohan Nargeta of CLTA upset his practice partner top seed Aakarshit Mahajan another CLTA trainee in three-setter closed contestant marathon match. Shrut won the first set 7-5, Aakarshit came back strongly in the second set and won by 7-5. In the final set Shrut Mohan played some unbelievable big forehand winners shots, finally Shrut Mohan won the final set and match 6-3 without getting much resistance.    

In the girls under-18 singles finals Sanvi Ahluwalia defeated Princy Panchal of CLTA in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Nimrat Kaur Atwal of CLTA upset second seed Kristi Boro of Assam in the girls under-16 singles finals. Nimrat was domination beginning of the 1st set with her aggressive ground stroke from the baseline. Nimrat played very well and won the match 6-3, 6-4 in straight sets from Kristi Boro.  

CLTA  Patron-in-Chief Rajan Kashyap distributed the prizes to the winners and runners-up.

 Boys under-18 singles: Shrut Mohan Nargeta (CH) [2] [Q] bt. Aakarshit Mahajan (J&K) [1] 7-5, 5-7, 6-3


Girls under-16 singles: Nimrat Kaur Atwal (CH) [4] bt. Kristi Boro (AS) [2] 6-3, 6-4


Girls under-18 singes: Sanvi Ahluwalia (DL) [5] bt. Princy Panchal (HR) [3] 6-4, 6-2 .
