CHANDIGARH : Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal today said that as the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal has to be constructed, an allocation of Rs 100 crore has been made in the budget of the State for the year 2017-18.
He was interacting with media persons after the presentation of the State Budget for the year 2017-18 in the ongoing Budget Session at Chandigarh today.
It may be recalled that earlier the Finance Minister, Capt. Abhimanyu had also said in reply to a question on SYL canal that if more funds needed for the construction of the SYL canal, Rs 1000 crore more would also be given for the same.
In reply to a question, the Chief Minister said that a hike of 15 to 30 per cent has been made in the allocation of budget for different departments so as to further accelerate the pace of development.
In reply yet another question, he said that the state government was considering a proposal under which family members of the martyrs would get financial assistance even without the receipt of necessary certificate, at their headquarters or the State Government, required for this purpose so that their next of kin could get the benefit at the earliest possible.
When asked to comment on the State budget presented today, he hailed it saying that no new tax has been introduced and described the budget as growth oriented, balanced and pro-people.
