Study group of NDC visits city Jalandhar

JALANDHAR : A study group of 58th National Defence College (NDC) comprising senior officers from civil services and Armed Forces of the country today held detailed deliberations with the officers of the district administration regarding the social, political and economic scenario of the state in general and district in particular.

During their visit to the city, the study group led by Faculty-in-charge and officer of Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Anwar Haleem had detailed deliberations with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Praveen Kumar Sinha and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar about the historic, political and social importance of the city. They also dwelled on range of other topics including industrial growth, agrarian problem, potential of tourism sector, immediate threats, if any, to security of the state and country besides the influence of Sikhism on the state. The group was of the view that state has a huge potential of being developed as a hub of tourism, which could boost the economy of the state on one hand besides opening new vistas of employment for the youth on the other.


Likewise, the group also enquired about the efforts being made by the district administration to improve the key sector of health and education in the rural areas. They also had a detailed discussion about the influence exerted by the religious deras in the social and political spheres of the state and the district. They said that Punjab being the ‘sword arm’ and ‘food bowl’ of the country has a lot of significance in the country due to which the study group, which comprises of senior officers of civil services, Indian Armed Forces besides foreign dignitaries, aspires to have a detailed knowledge about the state.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Sinha and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jalandhar Gurpreet Singh Bhullar welcomed the dignitaries with bouquets.

On the occasion Tour Coordinator of the group Manish Kishore Sinha , S Kumar AFHQ-CS, Brigadier SS Dahiya, Colonel Hameed Abdullah Ahmed Al Balushi Royal Army of Oman, Brigadier Bhavnish Kumar, Colonel Andrew Charles Fox New Zealand Army, Brigadier Rajan Sharawat, Commodore DK Goswami, Brigadier Ephraim Mugume, Brigadier Anoop Singhal SM, Brigadier Ranjeet Singh, Air Commodore A Sharma VM, Colonel Pema Dorji Royal Bhutan Army, Brigadier Rajiv Ghai SM, Brigadier Sunit Mehrotra, Brigadier HP Ranasinghe RWP RSP Sri Lankan Army and others.

On the occasion, Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) Paramvir Singh and Rajiv Verma, Assistant Superintendent of Police Phagwara Harish Dyama, Tehsildar Mr. Karanbir Singh Bhullar, Block Development and Panchayat Officer Bawa Singh and others.
