SLSA holds camps in Chandigarh under the aegis of National Legal Authority

CHANDIGARH: Aadhaar Cards of more than 350 persons were made on the spot or corrections in their Aadhaar cards have been generated. Similarly, more than 350 persons enrolled for new voter identity cards. More than 400 persons visited the stalls giving information on Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Cyber Crime Cell, Child Helpline and Narcotic Control Bureau.  Further, more than 175 persons visited the stalls of Education department, CWC and other NGOs working for the welfare of children in Chandigarh. Similarly more than 190 subscribers of BSNL, Idea, Airtel also got linked their mobile numbers with Aadhaar and also sought information about other telecom services.

All these facilities were provided to the public in a camp organized by the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA), Chandigarh,at government high school, village Kajheri here on Saturday under the aegis of National Legal Service Authority(NLSA)      

Before inaugurating the camp, a Walkathon was also flagged off from Govt. College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector-50 Chandigarh to the venue of the camp highlighting various Child issues like child beggary, drugs, sexual exploitation, human trafficking, child labour, right to education in which more than 150 students participated with a pledge to make city ‘Child-friendly Chandigarh.’
Various departments of Chandigarh Administration and other NGOs such as Election Department, UIDAI (Aadhaar), Social Welfare Department, Education Department, Health Department, SBI and PNB Banks, CCPCR, CWC, Bachpan Bachao Aandolan, Child Helpline, Anti Human Trafficking Unit, Child Welfare Unit, Cyber Crime Unit of Chandigarh Police, Telecom companies BSNL, AIRTEL, IDEA participated and aware the general public about various schemes initiated by their departments relating to Children. On the spot registration and facilities were also provided in the camp by the participating departments.
Representatives of all the participating departments also spoke about the activities and welfare schemes of their departments and also showed PPTs and documentaries relating to their departments’ work.
A free health camp was also organized with the help of experienced doctors from Govt. Hospital, GMSH, Sector-16, Chandigarh in which Child Specialist, Ortho Surgeon, ENT specialist, EYE specialist and general physician checked the children and other persons visiting the camp and also distributed free medicines.  More than 400 persons were checked in the camp. 
More than 2000 persons participated in this Legal Services Camp.  The Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh thanked all the participating departments, NGOs and the general public for their cooperation and for making the camp successful and assured that more such camp would be held in the near future.
