J&K electrical engineers to go on mass casual leave

JAMMU :  The General Council meeting of Jammu & Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) decided to hold a day long protest sit-in on March 20 to press their long pending demands and all the engineers from junior engineer to chief engineers will put in one day mass casual leave.
The meeting of General Council was held yesterday at Srinagar under the chairmanship of Pirzada Hidayatullah, President of Association and discussed the burning issues being faced by engineers with special discussion on regularization and non implementation of Assured career progression of engineers. The Association alleged that Government in power is taking the electrical engineers fraternity for a ride in respect to regularization and inaction on recommendations made at different levels with regard to extending running grades based on length of service put in by engineers at various levels as prevalent amongst other departments.
Hidayatullah said that the engineers has to take path of agitation after persuasions at different levels has failed. The meet showed its dismay about the aphorism and additional charge culture adopted by the Government by not filling up the vacant posts from Chief Engineer up to the Junior Engineer level.
Neeraj Sharma General secretary of Association said that members also showed their extreme annoyance over the fact that out of the total fourteen number posts of Chief Engineer, eight are lying vacant, eleven posts of Superintending Engineer out of cadre strength of twenty five are vacant and at least forty posts of Executive Engineer are also vacant The fate of AEEs and AEs is the worst in department though some of the them are on the verge of superannuation. The persons retiring as Chief Engineers are given pension in the cadre of Assistant Engineers in absence of regular promotions.
