Jalandhar DC asks SDMs to expedite the cases pertaining to Senior

JALANDHAR: Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma has asked all the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to expedite the cases pertaining to the Senior Citizens Act in order to safeguard the interests of the Old Age people seeking help from the administration.
In a communiqué to the Sub Divisional Magistrates of the district, the Deputy Commissioner has asked the Sub Divisional Magistrates to evolve a foolproof mechanism for dealing with the cases related to senior citizens in an expedite manner. Mr. Sharma has asked them to devise a mechanism to immediately redress the grievances of the old age people approaching the officers with their problems. He said that all out efforts must be made to ensure that the senior citizens were accorded top priority while dealing with the public.
He further asked the Sub Divisional Magistrates to make sure that provisions of senior citizens act , which safeguarded the old age people from exploitation, were implemented in right earnest. He said that any complaint filed by the old age citizens must be speedily forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner office for appropriate action. Mr. Sharma said that any sort of inordinate delay in dealing with such cases was totally unwarranted and undesirable.
Deputy Commissioner further asserted that the district administration was duty-bound to help these senior citizens who have rendered marvelous service to the society during their productive
years . He said that all out efforts would be made to assist them for getting their genuine work done at the earliest. Sharma further said that any senior citizen facing one or other problem could directly contact him for the immediate redressal of their problems.
