CHANDIGARH : Haryana Power Engineers Association in its meeting held today at Karnal directed all the engineers of UHBVN And DHBVN not to go for checking of power theft during night hours due to increased incidences of manhandling of engineers by the consumers and no action taken by the management on this issue.
The executive committee of Association held its meeting today at Karnal and was attended by K D Bansal President, KK Malik General Secretary, MS Dhiman Ranbir Deshwal and others.
K D Bansal President of Association said that the engineers are greatly disturbed at the manhandling of engineers while performing their official duties by the consumers. Moreover, the management has not provided any help in persuading the FIRs against the consumers. The police force provided to protect the engineers and staff always looked the other way while the engineers are beaten by the public. The incidence of manhandling of engineers have been reported from Karnal, Ambala, Kaithal, Panipat and Rohtak circles.
The Association condemned the arbitrary decisions of the management in transfer & posting policy, giving current duty charge to senior engineers without promotion, purchase of material without e-tendering against the instructions of state government and reappointment of retirees. The state government has stated a zero tolerance policy on corruption while utilities are not following the same. The Association has sought a meeting with Additional Chief secretary (Power) to discuss all these issues and has demanded a high level inquiry in to corrupt practices.
K K Malik General Secretary of Association said that the pay anomaly case of Assistant Engineers and Assistant Executive Engineers is pending for last so many years and nothing has been done so for despite repeated positive assurances by the management.
The three decade old work load norms have not been revised even once and no restructuring of nigams have been done so for. The Association has demanded that revised norms may be finalized soon.
The Association is holding circle level meetings in next ten days to finalize further programmed of action.
