Administration nod to gaushala upgrade at Shahkot

KANIA KALAN (Shahkot) : The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today gave nod for a complete transformation of Gau Shala here on modern lines for its efficient management and tackling the problem of stray animals.

Presiding over a meeting of District Animal Welfare Committee here during his visit to review the functioning of Gau Shala, the Deputy Commissioner said that all the faults in designing of this project would be overcome adding that besides construction of separate sheds for big and small beside male and female animals, food and water channels for animals, veterinary dispensary and other facilities for animals would be provided in this Gau Shala. Likewise, Sharma also underlined the need for effective functioning and monitoring of this the ambitious project, which would be very helpful in solving the problem of stray animals.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that the vacant land in Gau Shala for growing fodder for the animals besides proper plantation of trees on it. Underscoring the need for running the Gaushalas with missionary zeal to overcome the problem of stray animals especially the cattle in an efficient manner, he also batted for evolving a fool proof mechanism to run the Gau Shala for overcoming the mounting the problem of stray animals in the district Sharma said that besides developing a system of ensuring day-to-day fodder and water system for animals, proper record of Gau Shalas need to be maintained. He said
that optimum utilization of the government funds and resources need to be made for the noble cause.

The Deputy Commissioner solicited the support of the volunteers from the villages around the site of Gau Shala to serve the stray animals in a real sense.Sharma also had detailed deliberations with the villagers during which he reviewed the functioning of the Gau Shala. He also interacted with the staff working at Gau Shala to monitor the functioning of Gau Shala.

The Deputy Commissioner said that further construction on this Gau Shala would be now undertaken by a committee headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate (Shahkot) besides other officers of the Sub Division. He also gave nod for constituting committees for construction and fodder management in Gau Shala.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Sub Divisional Magistrate Navneet Kaur Bal and other officers of the district.
