Punjab Revenue minister hands over appointment letters to kins of martyrs

CHANDIGARH: While handing over the appointment letters to the kins of three martyrs today, Punjab Revenue & Rehabilitation Minister Mr. Gurpreet Singh Kangar said that “We will always be indebted to our brave soldiers who laid down their lives valiantly to protect the borders and sovereignty of the country. Their Supreme Sacrifice and valiant spirit will Always Remain Guiding Light for our Younger Generations.”

In a brief function held at his official residence at Sector-39, Chandigarh, the Cabinet Minister today handed over appointment letter to Mrs. Tanveer Kaur Bathinda wife of Major Ravi Inder Singh Sandhu, who was killed during UN Peace Keeping Mission in south Sudan on November 6, 2019 and Mr. Amritbir Singh of Amritsar son of martyred Inspector-cum-Company Commander, Raghveer Singh, CRPF-74 Battalion, who was killed during an encounter with Naxalites in Sukma (Chhattisgarh) on  April 24, 2017. Mrs. Tanveer Kaur and Mr. Amritbir Singh are recruited as Tehsildar in Revenue Department. Another appointment letter was given to Mrs. Akwinder Kaur Amritsar wife of Martyr Naik Maninder Singh, 3rd Punjab Regiment, who was killed on November 19, 2019 due to avalanche in Leh Ladakh. She has got the appointed letter of Naib Tehsildar.

Reitreting the commitment of Punjab government for the welfare of the families of the martyrs, Mr. Kangar said that the state government was committed to provide all possible help and cooperation to the families of the martyrs. He said that the country has proud of its martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the sovereignty of the country. He said that the Punjab government had recently increased the amount of ex-gratia from Rs.10 lakh to Rs. 50 lakh for the soldiers who were martyred while protecting the borders of the country.

Among others dignitaries who were present on the occasion included Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Vishwajit Khanna and Secretary Mr. Manvesh Singh Sidhu.
