Partial bandh observed in Phagwara on Shiv Sena call

PHAGWARA: Though on a ”Phagwara Bandh call” given by Shiv Sena, Partial Bandh was observed in the Phagwara town today as the commercial establishments remained closed in the interior town while the shops in the outer area of the town remained opened normally, but communal tension in the Phagwara Tension which gripped the town here after a clash between Shiv Sena activists and Muslim men supported by Sikh hardliners and dalits remained continued through out the day in Phagwara.
Deputy Commissioner Kapurthala Jaskiran Singh and Senior Superintendent of the Police Kapurthala Rajinder Singh are camping at Phagwara since yesterday.
Meanwhile DC has ordered magisterial probe in the communal clashes of Friday in Phagwara and appointed ADC Phagwara to enquire the whole episode and submit his report within next three days.
Above One dozen persons including two cops sustained injuries, and four of them were admitted in local Civil Hospital. Phagwara town has a deserted look today due to communal tension. SDM Balbir Raj Singh and DSP Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal along with heavy police force are taking round of the town constantly.
DC Jaskiran Singh while talking to this correspondent here on Saturday afternoon that he has ordered magisterial probe in the communal clashes of Friday in Phagwara and appointed ADC Phagwara Iqbal Singh Sandhu to enquire the whole episode and submit his report within next three days.DC said as ADC Sandhu is on leave till Monday he has been asked to start his enquiry from Monday and submit the Enquiry report by Thursday. DC said one Duty Magistrate would be available round the clock.
SSP Rajinder Singh said that additional police force was summoned and deputed at various sensitive points. He disclosed that Phagwara town has been divided in four Zones and each zone would be supervised by one SP rank officer. He said though the police has registered case under section 307/295A/427/148/149 IPC against around fifty persons. D.C and S.S.P. however denied the reports that any “murti” of Lord Shiva was desecrated by the miscreants.
It was observed that the situation could had been controlled if sufficient police force could be deployed on Friday as the situation was simmering for a couple of days.
