Mumbai businessman booked for Rs 97 Lakh Fraud

Mohali: Police have booked a mumbai – based  businessman for allegedly not making payments to a factory after buying  garments worth Rs.97 lakh.The fraud came to light after a cheque issued by prem chand mittal, a resident of santi parvati niwas, Mumbai  bounced. He is currently working with a mumbai based company, police said.

Nahar factory manager alleged the accused had purchased garments and material worth Rs.97.95 lakh from them two  years back. A few months back, Mittal handed them a cheque of the amount, but it bounced. Police said the accused and victim had beeen doing business  together since last few years.

The victim loged a complaint with assistant superintendent ofpolice (ASP) on july  5.The ASP marked the complaint to economic offences wing (EOW) of Mohali police for further  invetigation. After verifying the facts, the EOW directeed Lalru police to register a case.

Mittal was booked under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and  406 (Punisment  for criminal breach of trust )of the Indian penal code (IPC) at the Lalru police station.”we have started  investigation and the accused will be arrested soon,” a police official said.
