Domestic Airport Adampur in Punjab 70% complete, flights soon: Sharma

ADAMPUR(Jalandhar):  With more than 70% of construction work completed on the project of the domestic airport at Adampur, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that flights from this ambitious airport would start very soon.

The Deputy Commissioner who visited the site of the project this afternoon said that this project would be a big boon for the overall development of the region in general and Jalandhar district in particular. He said that more than 70% of the work on this project has been completed and the remaining work would be completed within coming ten days. Mr. Sharma expressed complete satisfaction on the ongoing work and said that it must be completed by the stipulated deadline.

The Deputy Commissioner visited under construction passenger lounge at the terminal where he was apprised that almost the entire work on this project has been completed. He was informed that the lounge would be soon given a finishing touch after which it would be available for operations. Likewise, Mr. Sharma was also informed that the parking lot and approach road to the airport were also ready for use.

The Deputy Commissioner was also informed that the underground water tank for the supply of water to the airport would also be ready for operation by coming 14th. Sharma was informed that within the coming week entire construction work on the project would be over. However, he was also told that the finishing work around the airport might take one or two days more.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officers to ensure that work was completed at the earliest. He said that the state government was committed to starting this airport at the earliest to facilitate the people and to ensure holistic development of the region and prosperity of its people.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Joint General Manager (Civil) AAI MS Duhan, Director Airport Kewal Krishan, Executive Engineer (PWD) Sarabraj and Executive Engineer (Water Supply) NP Singh.
