Around 443 Cattle Sheds Constructed in Patiala District, Work in Progress for 900 More- ADC Dr. Preeti Yadav

NABHA/PATIALA : To provide self-employment to the needy, poor and Scheduled Castes population living in the villages by to promoting animal husbandry and dairy trade, the Punjab Government has so far constructed 443 cattle sheds in Patiala district under the MGNREGA scheme and work in progress for 900 more.

Stating this here today after paying visits to various works performed under MGNREGA, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Preeti Yadav said that in order to promote dairy entrepreneurship, each village to have five cattle sheds in the district for scheduled castes including small and limited number of farmers.
She reviewed the MGNREGA works at Dhingi, Kalihana and Souja to take stock of the works done. She was accompanied by Assistant Commissioner (UT) Dr. Nirmal Ouseppachan. While inspecting cattle sheds constructed at village Kalihana, Dr. Yadav said that as many as 238 cattle sheds were constructed in the district during 2018-19 and 205 during 2019-20. Now the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, Punjab has given approval for construction of 1000 more cattle sheds, out of which work on 900 has already been started. Dr. Mrs. Yadav said that the eligible beneficiaries who want to have a cattle shed can submit their application through the Gram Panchayat to the concerned BDPO.
After this, Dr. Preeti Yadav inspected the park at village Dhingi in Nabha block under developed under MGNREGA at a cost of Rs 13.34 lakh. She also visited the room constructed under MGNREGA scheme at the village's senior secondary school and inspected the streets constructed at a cost of Rs. 14.93 lakh in the village. Sarpanch Balwinder Singh Bittu at village Dhingi informed about the development works being carried out in the village.
ADC Dr. Preeti Yadav also inspected the pond constructed at village Souja at a cost of about Rs. 50 lakhs for rain water harvesting.District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr. Surinder Singh Dhillon, BDPO Nabha Ajaib Singh, APO Mr. Amrik Singh, GRS Tarpinder Singh besides Sarpanches and Panchayat Members were also present during the visit.
