Harpal Singh Cheema AAP MLA and leader of Opposition in Punjab today took strong notice of payment of Rs.4000 crores undue payment to the private power companies by Capt Amarinder Singh Government and on the other side putting more burden on the power consumers.

In a statement issued here today Cheema said that Capt Amarinder Singh was working on foot steps of Badal government who also extended undue benefits to the private companies and signed agreements with them to pay hefty amounts even if they would not produce any electricity. He said that present Congress government had paid Rs.1400 crores to private thermal plants in first five months during 20`8-19 under the Power Purchase Agreements. He said that a total sum of Rs.4000 crores had been paid tp private thermal plants on account of various agreements and charges. He said that all these power companies are favourites of Sukhbir Singh Badal. He said that AAP will come out with a detailed power scam soon.

AAP leader said that Sukhbir Badal signed illegal agreements with private power companies for power purchase and befooled the people of Punjab in the name of making state power surplus. He said that Badal government had signed 25 year long agreements with these companies at the cost of state exchequer. He said that these agreements were part of a bigger scam.

Cheema demanded to constitute a Joint Investigation Committee of MLAs and senior power engineers and eminent lawyers should also be included in it. He Told power minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar that if he was serious to expose the misdeeds of Badal government he shall order a probe into the agreements signed with private companies and present the report in next session of Vidhan Sabha. He said that Capt Amarinder Singh and PPCC president Sunil Jakhar were also maintaining a suspicious silence over the matter.
