Haryana to link govt schools with online system

CHANDIGARH : Haryana Government is planning to link all government schools with an on line system so that aspects like attendance of students could be managed through on line application system from the headquarters.

This was informed in the sixth meeting of the General Council of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and fifth meeting of the General Council of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal here late last evening. The annual outlay of Rs 1063.72 crore of SSA and of Rs 1308.52 crore of RMSA for the year 2016-17 were also approved in the meeting.

The Chief Minister directed the officers to start working on the on-line system. “I wish that attendance of students could be seen by 10 a.m. with just one click from here. The Education Department, in consultation with the relevant authority, should go ahead to develop online system of schools for this purpose”, said the Chief Minister.

While expressing his concern over the performance of government schools, the Chief Minister also emphasized the need for maintaining better coordination between government and private schools. He said that leading private institutes are ready to adopt government schools so that standard of education in government schools could be further improved. Besides, government schools should also focus on arranging extra-curricular activities for students that are conducted by private schools. This would not only ensure overall development of students, but would also improve the quality of education.

While reviewing the financial progress of SSA and RMSA, the Chief Minister asked the officers to conduct a study of expenses being made on education of a student in schools. He said that emphasis should also be laid on School Management Committees so as to further improve the school management. Educated people should be nominated in the School Management Committees, he added.

The Chief Minister was all praise for the new initiatives being taken by the Education Department to further improve the standard of education at all levels and added that a monitoring system should also be developed for proper implementation of all such schemes. He also directed them to lay emphasis on the scheme of mid day meal in schools. He said that apart from election duty, minimum services of teachers should be used for non-teaching activities so that they could contribute maximum to the education sector. Apart from this, education department should also focus on maintaining the schools ambiance at par with that of private schools. “Our endeavour should be proactive and to create ambiance for better learning”, he added.

The Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma said that transportation facility for girls in Mewat area should be strengthened so as to ensure maximum enrolment of girls in schools. He also directed the officers to carry out a survey of school buildings which are lying incomplete in the state. Special focus should be laid on primary education as this could lead to strong base of children in times to come.
