CHANDIGARH : The Punjab Government has decided to celebrate 50th anniversary of Punjabi Suba on a massive scale. Working in this direction Education Department has prepared a calendar of activities to be executed in the month long celebrations of Punjabi Suba, which will culminate on 1st November 2016. The thrust of these activities would be on sensitizing the students across the state about the important landmarks, achievements in the formation of the Punjabi Suba, besides informing them about the rich historical and cultural heritage of the state.
Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema , Education Minister said that a high level meeting has been convened on 11 july to entrust work and responsibility upon the various rank and files of the education machinery.
Dr. Cheema said that Punjabi Suba came into being on 1st November 1966 as a result of untold sacrifices and relentless efforts made by the brave Punjabis. He said that it is our moral duty to sensitize the younger generations about the struggle and sacrifices made in the making of Punjabi Suba.
