RBU teachers told to adopt e-learning measures

MOHALI: Following closure of educational institutions in the State in view of spread of Coronavirus, the Rayat Bahra University is making various efforts to compensate the loss being faced by the students after the closure of the educational institutions.

Gurvinder singh Bahra, Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University, has instructed the teaching faculty to be in touch with the students through online platforms. He said that all heads of the departments have been instructed to adopt e-learning measures to reach out to the students.

He said that these guidelines for online teaching were issued in order to compensate academic loss of students in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The university has issued instructions that the faculty members of different teaching departments should ensure that they remain attached with students through Google and Whatsapp groups. The departments have also been instructed to keep the e-content ready so that it could be shared accordingly with the students. This is the time that teachers make best of the time through e-learning platforms, he said.

Bahra said that the university authorities have advised teachers to upload e-lectures (texts/slides/presentations) through Google Classroom and also clear doubts of students.

The faculty has also been asked to share lectures (text/presentations) though e-mail and reply students’ queries through email, WhatsApp or Skype. The teachers have also been advised to take help of YouTube for posting lectures or presentations for students and could also reply queries through video conferencing.
