CHANDIGARH: "It has become a habit though a nasty one with the akalis to level allegations of absolutely baseless nature every now and then at me, but they should base their stance on facts and not information of false and misleading nature."

Reacting to the allegations levelled by the SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia, the Cabinet Minister, Punjab and Senior Congress leader S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa categorically said that the Akalis are dragging his fair name into the so called seed scam just to gain cheap political mileage and have nothing to do with probity in public affairs.

Cementing his arguments with the hard facts, S. Randhawa said that he has nothing to do with the properiter of the M/s Karnal Agri Seeds, Village Veroke, Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur namely Lucky Dhillon who is said to have supplied a variety of paddy P. R. 128, and P. R. 129 to M/s Brar Seed Farm, in front of PAU Ludhiana Gate No. 1. It was alleged that the M/s Brar Seed Farm sold the varieties at very exorbitant prices to the farmers and in this regard an FIR was also registered in Ludhiana on 11.5.2020. "How does the name of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa cropped up in all this?, " questioned the Cooperation and Jails Minister.

Divulging more details, S. Randhawa said that the bill no. 1850 which is said to have found on probing the record files of M/s Brar Seed Farm, doesn't pertains to Ludhiana but to Amritsar instead. So, how come his (Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa) name was brought into it by akalis, is also a matter of investigation.

Disclosing further, he said that the owner of the M/s Karnal Seeds Lucky Dhillon was granted the license bearing no. 1102 on 17.09.2015 to carry on the business of a dealer in the seeds and the same was renewed upto 16.09.2021 during the tenure of the SAD-BJP Government. Furthermore, Lucky Dhillon's closeness to SAD leader Sucha Singh Langah is well known. Also, the ex CM Parkash Singh Badal wrote a condolence letter on the demise of Lucky Dhillon's father.

Tearing apart the nother aspect of the allegations, S. Randhawa said that as regarding the allegation that a Person named Jobanjit Singh, a resident of village Dharowali in Gurdaspur and working as Seed Certification Assistant, was verifying the seed manufactured by M/s Karnal Agri Seeds, it is noteworthy that Jobanjit Singh cannot certify the seeds of Gurdaspur based concern because he did not have the authority to do so. And if somebody belongs to Village Dharowali, it doesn't mean that the person knows me well.

The congress leader challenging Bikram Singh Majithia, said that he is ready for a time bound probe into the matter but the Akalis should also be ready to undergo investigation for acts of omission and commission committed and perpetrated by them.

Advising the SAD leader to adopt a saner approach, S. Randhawa said that these fictional tactics won't help the Akalis regain the lost ground.
