5th Mega Job Fair: 30000 jobs provided to the unemployed youth in the 1st phase : Balbir Singh Sidhu

CHANDIGARH: Under the flagship ‘Ghar-Ghar Rozgar’ scheme, The Punjab Government has been successful in providing jobs to more than 30000 unemployed youth of the state in the first phase of the 5th Mega Job Fair, which are being held across the state from September 9. In total 2.10 lakh jobs are to be provided in the 5th Mega Job Fair itself. It was disclosed by Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Health and Family Welfare Minister while inaugurating the Mega Job and Self Employment Fair at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran.

After the inaugural session Mr. Sidhu handed over job letters to 500 students. The packages offered to the students were ranging from Rs. 10 lakh to 30 lakh per annum. In his keynote address he said that the Punjab Government under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had kept its promise by providing Jobs to more than 9 lakh unemployed youth till date. Mr. Sidhu said that during the two days of this job fair being held at CGC Landran, SAS Nagar, more than 6000 Youth  would get jobs offers.

Mr. Sidhu added that in the first phase of the 5th Job Fair 10, 000 students had also registered themselves under self employment scheme and Punjab Government would facilitate them for getting loans to enter into entrepreneurship. He said that besides this 2500 students had registered themselves for skill development training. He said that Punjab Government would provide them the skill development training free of cost under skill development mission.

The Health Minister said that during the 2nd phase of this 5th Mega Job Fair starting from September 21, 2019, the Punjab Government would organize 74 more job fairs at different locations across the state. He said that till September 30, 2019 the target of providing 2.10 jobs would be achieved.

The Minister said that that Jobs packages were provided to the students as per the educational qualification and skill. He said that the jobs even to the school dropouts were also being provided during these Job Fairs.

 The Health minister further said that IT City Mohali would emerge as India's biggest job provider in the time to come as number of international companies were coming at IT City Mohali. He also said that many international level educational institutes such as universities were also coming up in IT City, Mohali.

Earlier Mr. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman of the CGC, Landran welcomed the Cabinet Minister by saying that with the support of Punjab Government they had earned a distinction at the international level and registered institute's name in the Limca Book of Records as 637 companies participated in their event and provided 6000 jobs to the students.

Prominent amongst other who were present in the occasion included Mr. Girish Dayalan, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Rachpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Group, Mr. Jagdeep Saigal, SDM.
