PSPCL engineers and employees protest against Electricity (Amendment ) bill

PATIALA: PSPCL engineers and employees today held state level protest rally at Patiala against the proposed Electricity (Amendment) bill 2014 and has urged the Prime Minister to intervene and not to rush the anti-people bill without discussions with them.
The power sector engineers and employees of all the states have addressed a memorandum to Prime minister of India with copy to the state Chief Minister conveying their apprehensions regarding Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014.

The rally at Patiala was addressed by Padamjit Singh Chief Patron All India power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) ,Harjit singh Secretary General NIPEF , Sanjeev Sood President PSEBEA ,K C Bhardwaj Secretary Employees Joint Forum ,Harbhajan Singh and Davinder Singh of JE council.

Padamjit Singh Chief Patron All India power Engineers Federation said that the object of the proposed bill is to create avenue of making business in power sector without any investment. Splitting of distribution business into carriage and content created such scope of business with utilization of network set up by public exchequer. In another way , we can say that the method is cost to public for profit of private business community.
Harjit Singh of NIPEF said that the implementation of Electricity Act, 2003 and adverse effects there upon should be reviewed with the target of integrating the all state owned Power Utilities and complete hold upon enactment of the anti worker and anti consumer provisions of proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014.

K C Bhardwaj and Davinder Singh urged the government to stop enactment of proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill in Parliament without prior discussion with the representatives of organizations of electricity employees and engineers as assured by the Piyush Goel former Power Minister in several meetings took place in 2015 and 2016.

The other demands highlighted in the memorandum are to implement old pension scheme for all power employees recruited after April, 2004 / Unbundling of SEB ,stop transfer of natural energy resources to the hands of private capitalists and to ensure ‘Right to Energy as Human Right’.
Comply Apex Court order of ‘Equal Wage for Equal Work’ and put complete hold upon engagement of contract workers in regular operation and maintenance jobs pending regularization of existing contractor workers.

It was resolved to intensify struggle with massive Parliament Rally at Delhi on 3rd April, 2018 and lightning strike / work boycott in all Power installations and electricity establishments of the country on the day of placing the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014 for adoption in any House of The Parliament.
