Chandigarh University Gharuan student held with opium consignment

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police has arrested a 22 year old student of Chandigarh University at Gharuan near Kharar with opium which he used to bring from Rajasthan to sell to his clients in the university and in surrouding areas.

Chokha Ram student of Journalism and Mass Communication in Chandigarh University who hails from Rajasthan was arrested during a naka near Chandigarh Group of Colleges at Landran. He lived in a rented accomdation in Kharar, police said.

Police said that Chokha Ram had learned tricks to hide and smuggle opium. He was bringing opiom in pure form from Rajasthan and also from Maddya Pradesh. He had big clintage in the Chandigarh University and other colleges in the periphery of Kharar. He had the te4chnique to convert 250 gm pure opium into 5 kg contraband by mixing other gradients. He was charging Rs.15,000 for 50 gms of opium. He was also doing home delivery to his cleints in Kharar and Chandigarh.

Harbhajan Singh Sub Inspector said that Police had obtained one day police remand of the accused. He said that Police would verify the location of suppliers and clients. He was booked under NDPC act.
