While demand drafts for salary for some employees had already been prepared and handed over, payments to other employees had been made through bank transfer.

Outstanding salaries of most of the employees, who were on rolls till the project ceased operations, had been paid in cash.

Dr AS Sekhon, who is in the new team, overlooking revival of the project, said that a sum of Rs 98 lakh had been deposited with the Punjab Power Corporation Limited to clear the pending electricity charges. A sum of Rs 2.50 lakh had been deposited with the PSPCL for restoration of electricity connection.

Capt Amarjeet Jaijee, a member of the new team overlooking revival of the project, said that some disgruntled elements had been creating problems in smooth restoration of operations of the medical college and hospital. They had been spreading rumours to mislead the employees. He said that preference would be accorded to former employees when more staff is being hired.
