Door to Door screening of 30 plus population to celebrate "World Cancer Day" on 4th February

CHANDIGARH: In a bid to screen 30 plus population of Punjab, the state government is all set to initiate door to door screening programme on the occasion of ‘World Cancer Day’ on 4th of February. It was disclosed by Health & Family Minister Mr. Brahm Mohindra in press communiqué today.

Giving details, Health Minister said that Special Screening and Awareness Camps would be organized on 4th February, 2019 in which general Public will be screened for common Cancers (Oral, Breast and Cervix). Suspected cases would be referred to higher facilities for further investigations. He said that Special IEC Vans have already been launched in the state which will cover all the districts for creating awareness regarding non-communicable diseases as well as ill effects of drugs.

Brahm Mohindra said that integrated Health Application (e-Health Card) to be filled online of the 30 plus population which helps in capturing all the demographic and behavioural details of each person. It is basically an e-Health card which is efficient, cost effective and reliable tool for surveillance of the NCDs risk factors and NCDs including treatment compliance. The application is developed as per the GOI guidelines in consultation with multiple NCDs.

Highlighting the key points of e-health card, he said that it also awares people for health seeking behaviours and they can assess their health status any time / anywhere. These details can help the policy makers in accessing the risky behaviour of the population and hence make informed programmes and policies pertaining to the requirements of the population added Mr. Brahm Mohindra.

He further said that State Level training of Training of Trainers (ToT) has been completed and District Level training of staff is going on and would be completed shortly. He said that 574 Medical officers, 1652 Staff Nurses, 3778 ANM/MPW and 17010 ASHAs have been imparted the special training so far for this screening programme.
