Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority holds roadwhows in India

NEW DELHI: Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA India) conducted a four city Roadshow from 28th August to 1st September 2017
MTPA India conducted a four city Roadshow in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai from 28th August to 1st September 2017. The objective of the event was to offer Indian travel partners an opportunity to acquaint themselves with the destination and meet the hoteliers, DMCs and activity companies.

The Roadshow was led by Mr Raj Bhujohory, Chairman MTPA who said, “This Roadshow will serve as a great platform for the Indian tour operators to understand the product offerings and have a meaningful dialogue with the suppliers from Mauritius”.

Mr Kevin Ramkaloan, Director, MTPA, while describing the tagline “Mauritius- It’s a pleasure!” said, “Mauritius offers amazing activities for adventure lovers like sky diving, ziplining, quad biking, seakarting, helicopter tours and also a life time experience of walking with the lions.  Rum and tea tasting tours are also gaining popularity among the tourists. Those who are sports minded, can enjoy a game of golf at one of the many championship level courses in Mauritius. Indians, while in Mauritius, will definitely enjoy long drives, shopping, night life and delicious cuisine or simply rejuvenate themselves at the world class spas.

Mr Vivek Anand, Country Manager, MTPA India said, “The objective of the Roadshow was to update the travel fraternity and help them forge business ties with the Mauritius suppliers. He added “We saw a growth of 15% in Indian tourist arrivals last year. We are targeting an increase of 10% this year. We expect a healthy growth in the MICE and Wedding segments and will be promoting Mauritius as a destination ‘Beyond the Beach’. More and more Indian travellers are planning to travel to the affordable luxury destination, Mauritius. Producers are also showing interest in shooting Bollywood movies in Mauritius.” Mauritius is a perfect MICE destination. Besides its natural splendour, the island has all the key facilities required for organising successful meetings, conferences and events. Luxurious hotel accommodation and DMCs geared towards providing all facilities required for large Indian weddings have made Mauritius a popular wedding destination.”

To commemorate Mauritius’ 50th year of independence, Trade Appreciation events were held in Mumbai, Delhi & Chennai. These Cocktail Dinners were well attended with His Excellency Mr. Jagdishwar Goburdhun, The High Commissioner of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Raj Bhujohory, Chairman MTPA, Mr Kevin Ramkaloan, Director, MTPA,   Mr Sanjay Sondhi, Chief Executive Officer, OM Tourism, Mr Vivek Anand, Country Manager, MTPA India, playing host to the trade and media alike.  The objective of the event was to felicitate star performers among the tour operators; and showcase Mauritius through a photo exhibition, its cuisine exclusively designed and executed by a Mauritian chef and a ballet performed by a troupe especially flown in from Mauritius. The photo-exhibition displayed the works of acclaimed photographers from different countries: it showcased the panoramic delights of Mauritius.
