BKU demands nod fo culling of stray animals damaging crops in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: The Bhartiya Kisan Union (Mann) has demanded to implement the orders of Supreme Court allowing culling of animals that are damaging crops and posing serious threa to human lives.

Bhupinder Singh Mann former MP and National President of BKU and Baldev Singh Mianpur state president of BKU in a statement here said that Punjab Government was not taking any steps to control stray animals including cows and dogs whi have become main reason for road accidents. He also said that wild cows(Neel Cows) are causing huge damage to crops and farmers are suffering major losses.

The BKU leaders said that Supreme Court had refused to stay the culling of Monkeys and Neel Cows in Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Bihar. He said that situation is worst in Punjab and state government is keeping a blind eye to it.

They said that Punjab Government shall follow other states and issue orders to kill neel cows on the pattern of other states. They also demanded permission to sell and transport cows. They stated that certain anti-social elements were harrassing cattle traders in the name of Gau Raksha. They demanded to lift ban on bringing cows from other states to Punjab so that problems of dairy farmers can be resolved.
