Innovative Workshop on Miniature Satellite & Space Communication organised at CGC Landran

CHANDIGARH: A special workshop aimed at introducing students to concepts of Miniature Satellite and Space Communication was organised by the department of Mechanical Engineering, Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran in association with Delhi-based Space Development Nexus (SDNx). More than 100 students participated in the innovative workshop and learnt the basics of designing a mini satellite and its usage with respect to detecting any atmospheric variations.

The workshop was conducted by a team comprising Govind Yadav, Technical Director, SDNx, Avinash, Robotics Engineer, SDNx and Bharat Vaishnav, Drone and UAV Engineer, SDNx. The event commenced with an interactive session where the students were explained the physics behind satellite functioning in addition to the usage of electronics and programming to channelize a satellite programme. They were also encouraged to brainstorm and come up with innovative designs for their mini satellites which they fabricated following the interactive session, under the expert guidance of the SDNx instructors. The final stage of the workshop saw the mini-satellites designed and fabricated by CGC students being tested through drop-down mechanism using a drone, measuring the varied atmospheric conditions including temperature, pressure, and humidity etc. The workshop ended with all the participating students being given an Industrial Grade-International Class Certificate.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC, Landran commended the faculty and students on the successful conduct of the workshop. They added that the event underlined CGC’s commitment to provide CGCians with the best opportunities for experiential learning giving them a broad platform to hone their technological skills, as well as their capacity to think and innovate.
