Badals are most hated in Punjab after Ahmad Shah Abdali
CHANDIGARH: Member Rajya Sabha and former PPCC president Partap Singh Bajwa has stated that a political mafia comprising some leaders from across all political parties is active in Punjab and they run the government. He said this mafia is a major threat to the democracy.
In an exclusive interview with Swati Walia Senior Sub Editor of Punjab News Express here today, Bajwa said that Badal family has patronised the political mafia which comprises leaders having common business interests. Making scathing attack on Badals, Congress leader said that many political murders were taking place in Punjab and some of the high profile murder cases are not being investigated and no accused is traced. He cited the murder of Mata Chand Kaur wife of former Satguru of Namdhari Sect, murderous attack on Baba Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala in which one of his aide was killed and attack on RSS leader Brig(Retd) Jagdish Gagneja some of the cases in which Political mafia was involved.
Bajwa alleged that the incidents of sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahib and Quran Sharif and firing on Sikhs in Bargari were committed by agencies working on behalf of political mafia. He said that how ridicules is that Punjab Government could not arrest even a single accused of sacrilege and policemen who fired on Sikhs, killing two people, were not identified till date. Even Zora Singh Commission set up by the government failed to name the police officers who ordered firing. The motive of Badalfamily behind such incidents was to grab power by using all unfair means. He said that people of Punjab would never forgive Badal family for their misdeeds and acts committed against humanity.
Badals most hated after Abdali
Bajwa said that that the people of Punjab had hated the most, only two personalities in the entire history of state, the first was Ahmad Shah Abdali who desecrated the Golden Temple at Amritsar and the second is Parkash Singh Badal. He said that Badal family was like East India Companmy who have no love for mankind and their religion is their business and bleeeding people for their gains.
Bajwa said that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son Deputy Chief Minister had ruined Punjab and a total anarcgy prevailed in the state. He said that corruption was prevailing in government in the past too but Badal family has 'institutionalised' the corruption and controlled everything-the cable network, media, transport, sand mines and liquor to anme a few. He said that Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia runs ilelgal sand mines and the whole liquor trade is under his and his brother's control. They are minting money from drugs and illegal mining.
Fourth Political Front
The Congress leader said that the fourth political front being formed for 2017 assembly elections was not in the interest of Punjab. He said that the fourth front of Awaz-e-Punjab would only help the SAD-BJP to return to Power. He said it was a ploy to cut the anti-Badal votes that would have been pocketed by Congress or other parties. He said that people like Navjot Sidhu cant be good choice for Punjab since he is not full time politician and has little knowledge of issues of state. He said that Sidhu has his good business in entertainement world and he counld'nt devote time.
AAP has lost goodwill
On Aam Aadmi Party(AAP), Bajwa said that Arvind Kejriwal the convener of the Party is anti-Punjab and he cant be accepted here particularly being an Haryanvi. He said that Punjab has running disputes with Haryana. Punjab has dispute over Punjabi speaking areas, distribution of river waters and trasnfer f Chandigarh to Punjab. How can a man who hails from Haryana can do justice with Punjab, he added.
Bajwa observed that AAP had lost its 50 percent of its goodwill in the last few weeks due to recent developments like removal of Sucha Singh Chhotepur from post of convener and allegations of sale of party tickets etc. He said that AAP peaked too early in the election campaign and now it would witness downfall. He said that AAP is threat to identity of Punjabiat.
Congress only Choice
He said that in such a scenario, the Congress was the only choice for poeple of Punjab. He said that Congress was reviving all over India. He said that in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, the Congress party has high chances of making comeback. He said that choice of right candidates would be important. He said that being PPCC president he had worked hard to mobilise party cadre at the ground level. When asked if there was any factionalism existing in the Punjab Congress, he refused to comment.
Bajwa however said that Congress cadre is united and strong. He said that Congress had faced anti-incumbency of ten years of UPA government. He said that BJP led NDA government at center has lost its trust in people in just 2 and half years. He said that all promises of 'Achhe din' made by Prime Minister Narender Modi before elctions have proved 'Joomlas' and people regret voting for BJP. He said that hard work done by AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi would pay up in UP and Punjab elections.Bajwa said that whatever developemt the India was today witnessing was due to initiative taken by the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Farmers Iassues
He stated that AAP has stolen the idea of bringing Sir Chhotu Ram Act to releive the debt burden of farmers. He said that the under the banner of Kisan Chetna Lehar which he heads, has made announcement during Gurdaspur rally that Congress would bring this act and also provide 12 hour power supply. He said that waiving loans of farmers having land less than five years was also part of their agenda. He said that they would hold Kisan Chetna rallies in all 14 Parliament constituencies of Punajb and then in December middle when Parliament session would be in session, they would shift to Jantar Mantar at Delhi to raise the issues of farmers at national level.
Bajwa said that farmer suicides in Punjab were continuing in Punab and the SAD-BJP government has not taken any steps to prevent it. He said that at present farmers have the debt of Rs.57000 crores on their head. He said that Dr.Manmohan Singh had in 2008 waived off farmer's loans worth Rs.72000 crores all over India. He said that Modi Government was saving Rs.1.34 lakh crores from Petrol and diesel due to low cost of procurement and it is not difficult for Modi to give one time waiver to the farmers.
