Rayat-Bahra Ropar Campus organizes anti-drug seminar

ROPAR: The Rayat-Bahra Railmajra campus todfay organized a one-day seminar on anti-drug awareness in collaboration with the SBS Nagar police.

A play depicting human values was also presented by the Nehru Yuva Kendra. The play demonstrated how today’s youth is lured towards the materialistic needs and are drifting away from their roots forgetting the sacrifices of their parents. The play gave goose bumps to the audience.

Dr Suresh Seth, Campus Director, Rayat-Bahra Campus Railmajra, welcoming the guests of the day said that drugs were eating into the vitals of the society and now was the time to join hands to combat with the malaise of drug abuse.

Harish Dayama, SP (H), and Rajpal Singh Hundal, DSP Balachaur, were guests on the occasion and the seminar was attended by over 700 students of the campus.

Rajpal Singh Hundal, , DSP of Balachaur, and an Arjuna Awardee and former Hockey Captain, addressing the students exclaimed that sports demand fitness and drugs were playing havoc with the health and well being of the students. Those getting hooked on to drugs could hardly participate in sporting activities.

Harish Dayama, in his keynote address, called upon the students to act as ambassadors of Police in identifying students who needed special attention and care for rehabilitation. He further said matters relating to drugs should immediately be reported to the authorities so that prompt action could be taken to prevent major damage.

Ashutosh Sharma, Vice-Principal, Management Institute, proposing a vote of thanks, appreciated the efforts of the police in organizing such an awareness drive to identify those needing help and rehabilitation. He further assured that the campus would continue to be in the forefront to champion social causes and would support the Police in this anti-drug drive.
