Japanese medical equipment major plans to set up next plant in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: Japan's leading medical equipment manufacturer Nemoto Kyorindo on Wednesday announced plans to set up its next facility in Punjab, while evincing interest in the development of Rajpura as an industrial hub on the lines of Neemrana in Rajasthan.

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has extended his government’s full support to the Company, which is amongst the world’s leading producers of surgical tables and Contrast Agent Injectors, and specialises in the field of medical image scanning. With a share of over 90% in the Japanese market, Nemoto was the first company to jointly develop contrast injector crucial in the field of Cerebral Angiography.

Briefing the Chief Minister on the proposed investment, estimated to run into crores of rupees, the Company’s Chief Executive Officer Kingo Shichinohe said Nemeto had earmarked several sites across Punjab for investment in a phased manner.

Captain Amarinder said his government would facilitate all clearances through the single-window Invest Punjab facility to ensure fast-track implementation of the Company’s projects. His government, said the Chief Minister, was committed to promoting industrial development in the state, for which it had already taken various proactive initiatives, including power at Rs 5 per unit and an attractive incentive policy for the industry.

The state had all the requisite resourced for industrial development, including a hard working worker resource base and peaceful labour relations, said Captain Amarinder, urging Nemeto to inspire other Japanese companies to also come and invest in Punjab.

Kingo Shichinohe thanked Captain Amarinder Singh for facilitating their visit and assured him of more medical industry related projects in Punjab.

Kingo and his delegation, who earlier held meetings with Invest Punjab officials, also appreciated the one-stop-window for facilitating many projects in getting off the ground in recent months.

The meeting was attended by Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra, ACS Investment Promotion Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary to CM Tejveer Singh, Advisor Invest Punjab Major Balwinder Singh Kohli, CEO PMIDC Ajoy Sharma and Additional CEO Abhishek Narang. The delegation also included Somao Nishii of Nishii Company, Ryota Ozawa of Nishii Company and COOO Globexei Deepak Singh.
