Surprise check conducted on Rural dispansaries in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: On the directions of Mr. Anurag Verma, Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats Department, Surprise checks were conducted over the Rural Dispensaries in various districts. Checking was conducted by the teams of Rural Development and Pachayats Department led by A.D.C (D), D.D.P.Os and members of Jila Prishads.
Disclosing this Mr. Anurag Verma said that during the checking one Rural Medical Officer in district Sangrur, One in District Tarn Taran, Four in Hoshiarpur and One Rural Medical Officer and one pharmacist was found absent in Jalandhar district. Similarly one doctor in Fatehgarh Sahib, one doctor and one pharmacist in Barnala and three Rural Medical officers and one pharmacist was found absent. Ludhiana district top the list where 10 Rural Medical Doctors and 14 pharmacists were found absent during the surprise check.
Mr. Verma said that clarification would be sought from the absentees and if the answer is not satisfactory then inquiry would be initiated against the concerned officers. He said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Mr. Amarinder Singh Chief Minister is committed to provide best health facilities at the Rural Dispensaries of the state and carelessness in this regard on the part of any officer would not be tolerated. He said that these health centers are being run under the supervision of Jila Prishads and free medicines is given to the patients. He said that the Rural Development and Pachayats Department has forwarded a case to Finance Department to fill the vacant posts of Doctors and other staff.
