Ram Tirath temple of Amritsar, an architectural wonder, to be dedicated in 2016

AMRITSAR: Having rich religious and historic significance, the local Ram Tirath Temple is all set to become a unique paragon in the country by next year 2016 as the world class architectural work at various sites were in full swing. The project will be completed at a cost of Rs. 185 crore.

This extraordinary construction may be the first of its own kind in the north India which will depict resemblance to world renowned shrines of Southern India with distinctive design of domes. The main shrine, its domes and parikarma (circumambulation) will have a similar yellow tint of exclusive quality sand marble. The construction of various complexes around the main shrine was also going on war footing, said Deputy Commissioner Mr. Ravi Bhagat.

This ambitious project for which state has set aside Rs. 185 crore will be dedicated to whole world by March 2016, quoting this Mr. Ravi Bhagat, said the 70 percent structure work of Main Karunasagar Valmiki Asthaan has completed.

He said Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has taken this project as a mission and the work was going on expeditious mode. He said that presently the finishing and cladding work was going on, which will be completed in the first week of March. He informed that the work on Parikarms, museum and panorama, world class hostel for pilgrims, administrative block and public amenities was also going on war level while the complex will also have museum and panorama with multistoried parking. He said that the main shrine will have complete parikarma in all four directions, which will be approached by causeway connected with deorhis on both ends.

Briefing about the architectural character of the main temple, Mr. Bhagat said that the design had been made exclusively on a unique pattern to create a distinct identity. He said that the museum will work as an exhibition space to highlight life, history and teachings of Bhagwan Valmiki besides this the panorama will describe the major events of Ramayana. He said that this complex will cover approximate 50000 sq feet area for the comfort and facilitation of pilgrims.

Describing about the world class congregation hall to be developed, Mr. Bhagat said that it will accommodate more than 5000 people at a time for attending religious discourses. He also informed that the landscape and green belt will match the international standards. He said that the multistoried parking will also have a sufficient place to park more than 600 cars and 10 buses at surface parking. He said that after completion of the entire project this will add another feather to the galaxy of shrines already in existence in the holy city.
