AMRITSAR: In a strange instance, resident doctor of Second year of PG in medicine Dr. Parimnder Kaur (26) turning pillar to post for the last three days for COVID 19 test but every time she was declined on the pretext of insignificant reasons.
Talking to media, Dr. Parminder Kaur said, “Presently her condition Is not good enough as suffering high fever 104, with chest pain, cough, dinginess and all other symptoms of COVID 19. I am requesting the authorities ( Incharge of Isolation ward of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital) for COVID 19 test but every time declined by saying that we should wait for some time more”.
Finally when I slipped into grave situation tweeted to State Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today and after few hours received a call from CM office telling me go for the test as there would be no hurdle”, added she.
Surprisingly enough now doctors of Isolation ward were forcing me to get admission in the Isolation Ward, but I asked them for the test first. Since, In Isolation ward there are two confirmed patients if I go there then virus is confirmed as infection chances in that ward is very high”, she quipped.
Adding further she alleged, “Now staff in the medical college is saying presently they are short of testing kits would arrive shortly”.
On being asked why she was suspicious about virus, said, four days back, went to Isolation Ward to get N-95 mask which was available only in Isolation ward, that is why has suspicion about virus.
On being contacted, Principal GMC (Government Medical College Amritsar) Dr. Sujata Sharma said, “Dr. Parminder herself is student of Medicines, she know very well about the symptoms but creating hype, otherwise nothing else is there. Our Nodal officer, Professor of Medicine and other experts observing her constantly and presently there are no such symptoms that is why her sample was not taken. We have enough stock of kits and every related material including medicines”, she quipped.
