ROPAR : Rayat-Bahra Ropar Campus, one of the largest educational hubs of North India, in collaboration with Shri Guru Harikrishan Sahib Charitable Hospital Sohana, Ropar organised Mega free medical camp to provide healthcare support to residents of local villages of surrounding area. The camp was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Mukesh Bhatia, Deputy Medical Commissioner, Ropar. Various specialist fields including Cancer Check-up, Orthopaedics, Bone Density Check, Eye Check-up, Dental Check-up, ENT, General Medicine, Gynaecology and Cardiology were the part of the camp.
Around 780 people of all ages from the adjoining villages, i.e., Prem Nagar, Asron, Rattewal, Toansa, Kathgarh and Ropar attended and availed the benefit of free medical camp. Free transport facility to pick and drop the patients from adjoining villages and warm hospitality arrangements were made on this occasion. Free medical tests including Bone Density Test, ECG, Blood Sugar and Laboratory tests were conducted and free medicines were distributed to the patients during the camp. The team of specialist doctors including Dr. B. Batra, Medical Specialist, Dr. Munish Talwar-Medical Specialist, Dr. Amandeep Kaur-Dental Specialist, Dr. Vaani- Gynaecologist, Dr. Raghav-ENT Specialist, Dr. Ravi- Eye Specialist, Dr. Umang Verma- Orthopaedics and Dr. Amritpal Singh Narula- Cardiologist rendered their medical services during the medical camp.
Speaking in favour of these noble initiatives, S. Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman Rayat-Bahra Group of Institutes said, “Rayat-Bahra Group is committed towards inclusive and sustainable growth of the surrounding area. We use a holistic model of development and undertake a number of CSR activities in larger interest of the community, especially in the area of health, education, women empowerment and childcare apart from supporting a few other non-profit efforts.” Rayat-Bahra Group is also providing the services of fully equipped mobile dental & medical check-up buses and free ambulance service for the needy people of surrounding areas in its all campuses including Ropar, Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Panipat and Shimla for emergency and accident cases and saved many precious lives, he added.
Addressing the gathering and talking to the press and media, Prof. S.C. Bedi, Rayat-Bahra Ropar Campus Director stressed the need of health for good and peaceful life. He said, “We have been organising free medical camps regularly in economically backward region of the area for screening, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and have been able to save a number of lives and we are committed to continue this noble mission in future also”. He also urged the public to make use of these programmes and to give wide publicity among the people who are really in need.
Mr. Simranjit Singh, trustee of Shri Guru Harikrishan Sahib Charitable Trust, Sohana, provided full support to organise the camp and assured future cooperation for holding such camps. He also supported the camp with free medicines.
