Nodal officers appointed for smooth and fair conduct of Shahkot by-poll

JALANDHAR: In order to ensure smooth, free and fair by-elections for the Shahkot assembly segment on May 28, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar cum District Election Officer Varinder Kumar Sharma has constituted a number of committees with the senior officers of district administration as nodal officers.

In pursuance of the powers vested under section 159 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and Instructions on Election Expenditure Monitoring issued by the Election Commission of India, the Deputy Commissioner has issued these orders to appoint nodal officers for various committees. As per the details Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Dr. Bhupinder Singh would be nodal officer for manpower management, training management and material management whereas Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mr. Jasbir Singh would be nodal officer for EVM Management, Expenditure Monitoring, Law and Order, District Security Plan, SVEEP and Coordination & Deployment of Central Para Military Forces (CPMF) and issues relating to their welfare. Likewise, Secretary RTA Mr. Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa would be nodal officer for transport management and Deputy Director Local Government Mr. Sanjeev Sharma would be nodal officer for effective implementation of Model Code of Conduct.

Nodal Officer along with the observers would be Deputy Food and Supply Controller Mr. TS Chopra whereas Assistant Labour Commissioner Jalandhar I Sukhjinder Singh would be nodal officer for Ballot/ paper and dummy ballots. Similarly, District Public Relations Officer (DPRO) Manvinder Singh would be nodal officer for Media/ Communication and Technical Director cum District Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre, Jalandhar Amolak Singh Kalsi would be nodal officer for computerization, sms monitoring and communication plan. Assistant Commissioner (Grievances) Deepak Bhatia would be nodal officer for Helpline and Complaints Redressal & 24x7 Call Centre & Control Room and DETC Jalandhar Division Mr. Jaspinder Singh would be nodal officer for Excise.

Assistant Commissioner (General) Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon would be nodal officer for Collection & Reviewing Daily Reports from Police, Excise, Expenditure Cells and Forwarding the same to CEO, Punjab whereas Secretary RTA Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa would also be Nodal Officer for Coordination for issuance of Ballot Papers to Staff on Election Duty and Drivers of Vehicles requisitioned for election duty. For Setting up & operations of Single Window Permission Cell, checking & setting up Receipt & Dispatch Centres, Strong Rooms, Counting Centres, the Sub Divisional Magistrate Darbara Singh would be the nodal officer and for Micro Observers (Training, Dispatch & Receipt) Director RUDSET Jagdish Kumar would be the Nodal Officer whereas for Fixation of prices of various items related to election expenditure Deputy Food and Supply Controller Mr. TS Chopra would be the nodal officer.
