4 gram panchayats to go to poll on May 28

CHANDIGARH : The Haryana State Election Commission today issued the election program for the conduct of the General elections of four Gram Panchayats. The poll for these elections will be held on May 28, 2017.
While giving details of elections programme, State Election Commissioner, Dr. Dalip Singh said that the elections would be held in four Gram Panchayats that included Berwal Mandala of block Barwala, district Panchkula, Jakhal Mandi of block Jakhal, district Fatehabad, Firozepur Jhirka (Rural) of block Firozepur Jhirka, district Mewat and Missing (Rural) of block Nissing, district Karnal.
He said that the District Election Officer would publish the notice on May 5. Nomination papers would be presented from May 12 to 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nomination papers received would be filed and affidavits or declaration would be furnished from May 12 to 17. He said that the nomination papers would be scrutinized on May 18 from 10 a.m. onwards. The last date for the withdrawal of candidature by a candidate is May 19 up to 3 p.m. The symbols would be allotted on May 19 after 3 p.m. The list of contesting candidates would be posted on May 19 immediately after the allotment of symbols. The date of polling is on May 28 (Sunday) between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and counting of votes would be done immediately after the close of poll and in the case of re-poll, the Commission might change the date and time of counting of votes, he added.
He said that the nominations would be received at village headquarter and the scrutiny of the nomination papers would be taken up by the Returning Officers only.
He said that the counting of votes of all the elections would be held at all the polling stations on the same day, but before starting counting, the Returning Officers would ensure that voting in all the polling booths under their control have been completed.
