AMRITSAR: The international folklore was writ large at the 8th Amritsar International Folk Festival here today as the Punjabi and Polish artists shared stage and depicted world class multicultural mileage at Khalsa College for Women (KCW). The mesmerizing performance led by the Bydgoska artists from Poland offered a rare and magical performance, laving the audience spell bound.
The festival organized by the College, Khalsa College Governing Council in collaboration of Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC) exhibited fusion of two cultures as Punjabi and Polish group of dances set the stage on fire. The artists exhibited the message of peace and harmony as artists from two countries performed together during their gripping performances.
Wearing their traditional, colorful dresses, the artists took to the stage with full enthusiasm and won the heart with the foot-tapping dances and melodious singing. The 17 member Polska delegation led by Hanna Bugeja and Imislawa gave folk presentations of their native country while the host team's Gidda team, Khalsa College Senior Secondary School (Girls) Luddi and Khalsa College Senior Secondary School Boys’ Bhangra team added spark to the cultural bonanza highlighting dance, fun and frolics.
The Chief Guest for the occasion KCGC Joint Secretary Gunbir Singh along with College Principal Dr, Manpreet Kaur, Joint Secretaries KCGC, Ajmer Singh Heir, SS Mannan and Rajbir Singh and Khalsa Colege Principal Dr. Mehal Singh distributed the awards of appreciation to the Polska artists as well as in-house performers. Gunbir said that such inter-cultural festivals provide opportunity for students to interact and perform together for better understanding between diverse cultures.
Principal Dr. Manpreet who welcomed the guests and artists saying earlier said that they were proud to host the festival. She said it was overwhelming to see the mesmerizing performances of the artists as she applauded the hard work and dedication of faculty and students for putting up such a great show.
PCPC head Dr. Davinder Singh Chhina said that it was the 8th festival in the series and it is aimed to globalize the heritage of holy city of Amritsar by inviting the folk delegations frpom various countries of the world. He said Council promotes multiculturalism and international cooperation through the exchange of artists. Other present included Principal Puneet Nagpal, DS Rataul, staff and students in large number. The members of the Polish delegation included Maciej Piotr, Sonia Maria, Agata Maria, Michal, karol, Malgorzata dorat, Elzbieta, Marcin Dariusz, Anna Antonina, Maja Walentyna, Jakub, kamil, krol Piotr, Aleksandra and Piotr Andrzej.
