Seminar on Trends in Food Business at Khalsa College

AMRITSAR: The department of Food Science and Technology, Khalsa College today organized a national seminar on “Recent Trends in International Food Business” in which resource person Dr. Pravin Jadhav from Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management, Ahmedabad and Pratik Navale from Federation Of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) set up by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt of India, shared valuable tips today.

They spoke on various methodologies involved in international food business and changing scenario of food supply and processing in South Asia and world. They said that India is the second largest producer of farm products in the world and third largest economy in terms of purchasing power. Principal Dr. Mehal Singh who welcomed the guest said Indian food market is massive and is expanding day by day. This has enabled the Indian Food industry to occupy sound market position in overseas countries. Import export in food items is common and can be adopted as entrepreneurship endeavor for Food Science students.

Dr. Manbir Singh, Head of Department was of the view that Indian Food Industries is changing rapidly and also its business climate. He said this Industry require well organized Internationally oriented managers which have first hand knowledge of International business. He said such lectures provide an opportunity to learn about import export policy of food products. Dr. Gursharan Kaur delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Sandeep Singh, Dr. Davinder Pal Singh, Dr. Seeratpreet Kaur, Dr. Shubhpreet Kaur, Prof. Ritupriya, Dr. Sukhbir Singh, Dr. Harmeet Chauhan, Prof Kamaldeep Kaur, Dr. Rajan Sharma, Prof. Nancydeep Kaur, Prof. Nidhi Chopra and Prof. Prabhjot Kaur were also presented in the seminar.
