MOHALI : Rayat Bahra University School of sciences Organized a academic informative session for the students of B.Sc&M.Sc about the concept of learning with simplicity in the new beginning of the ‘Winter semester’. This standardized program for students was focused on peer and academic support based on ‘just-in-time’ and ‘just-for-me’ principles, assisting commencing students to achieve a smooth transition into university.
The programme began with Prof. Harvinder Kaur, Dean University School of Sciences, giving a warm welcome to Graduate & Post-graduate students. Students registered themselves in the even semester & were given semester kit (Academic Calendar, Teaching Learning process, semester curriculum).
Prof. Harvinder Kaur spoke about the concept of the art of learning and how to make learning easier. She encouraged the students to qualify the degree with the highest marks possible that would make them quite receptive in the industrial world& teaching. Second, being that they must be ready to face the competitive exams. She said that one must have a fiery determination and motivation that must be impervious to the social and the real world. She stressed that students need to have a certain fondness towards a subject when they choose them as their career.
She further added, to grow into a successful professional, an individual needs to have good leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, stress-bearing
capacity, innovative ideas and self-confidence. And to impart all these skills to students& for their holistic development, seminars, workshops& expert talkswill be organized at University School of sciences. ‘Mentoring’ classes has already been introduced for all the Graduate & Post-Graduate courses like previous semester to resolve their academic, personal, psychological problems.
Afterwards, Heads of the various departmentsinteracted with the students & outlined the course work, practical work, Field visits, Industrial visits, Seminars, Workshops, Continuous Evaluation system, Choice based credit system& other Co-curricular activities in their respective Graduate & Post-graduate courses to be held in the current semester.Students were properly guided about ‘Strategic Planning’ for Time-Tablepreparationfor effective study&learning after Class hours at their Homes/Hostel. They were advised not to waste their valuable time in wrong-doings& to focus on their studies to move towards bright future.
