Rayat Bahra students fabricate new device

MOHALI: Students of the Rayat-Bahra University Polytechnic entered the realm of industrial manufacturing and marketing with the launch of its first commercial product “The Bookend”, designed and manufactured in University workshops by students of 2nd Year Mechanical Stream.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of Rayat-Bahra Group, who was the chief guest at the launch ceremony, was visibly elated over the success of the students and he lauded the new initiative taken by University Polytechnic for imparting entrepreneurial spirit in the students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Maninder Singh, Principal University Polytechnic, described how the whole concept was introduced by the Rayat-Bahra Group in which students can earn handsomely during the course of his study.

He said that University Polytechnic and Skill Development Center would work as an industry now on and the doors of the university workshops would be kept open all the time during which students, in collaboration with industry and under guidance of expert and teachers, could prepare any commercial product and sell it for their own monetary profits. He added that the Rayat-Bahra administration would wholeheartedly help the students in marketing their product.

Prof Daljit Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat-Bahra University, said that this initiative was a win-win situation for both the students and the university as at the end of their respective courses, the students with enhanced practical and entrepreneurial skills, would be ready to face the world.
