Mystery shrouds missing Rs.3.92 crore old currency and security agency employees

LUDHIANA: The police is groping in the dark to trace nine employees of a Ludhiana basedsecurity agency who have gone missing alongwith Rs.3.92 crore old currency notes on Sunday last. The security agency employees had taken off notes of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 denomination from the ATMs in the city after demonetisation announced by Prime Minister Narender Modi.

In yet another incident here the police has arrested two persons, one army man and a dismissed army man. One policeman for looting Rs.7 lakhs from a hosiery owner. Police has recovered Rs.6.50 lakhs, all scrapped notes from the accused Rakesh Kumar and Vikas Kumar(both from Hissar in Haryana). The third accused a cop yet to indentified is on the run.

According to a complaint made by Satinderbir Singh manager of the Scientif Security Management to the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar Police station that nine employees of his company had not deposted the scrapped notes in the respective banks after they took it off from the various ATMs. The accused have been identified as Anil Chopra, Radhey Shyam, Pardeep Singh, Kuldip Singh, Sharanjit Singh, Ajau Kanojia, Gursewak Singh, Hapreet Singh Bunty and Kamaljit Singh.

The money beloged to State Bank of India and HDFC banks. The accused fled with the money and didnt report for the duty next day. The police said that agency tried to locate the employees at their own but after no trace of them, they approached the police. There is no clue of the accused, police said.
