Moot Courts Organized at Khalsa College of Law

AMRITSAR: As part of the practical works for students, the Moot Courts were organized at Khalsa College of Law today wherein Inderjit Singh Arri, Secretary Amritsar Bar Association, Deepak Salwan, Amandeep Sharma, R.P. Singh, Sandeep Kapoor, Sukhjinder Singh Chouhan, Geetanjali Korpal and Manmohan Pratap Singh Gill, Senior Advocates at local district courts were the Presiding Officers.

Principal Dr. Jaspal Singh said that eight teams of the students from B.A., LL.B. 9th Semester and LL.B. (TYC) 5th Semester presented their cases in different moot court on cases relating Divorcee,   Custody of Minor Child, Restitution of Conjugal Rights, Consumer Law, Partition, Sale of Property, Defammation, Surrogacy and Maintenance.  

The students prepared their cases under the guidance of Dr. Seema Rani, Coordinator of Practical Training, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Prof. Jaskiranbeer Kaur, Prof. Seema Rani, Prof. Anita Sharma, Prof. Jaskiranbeer Kaur, Prof. Rashima Prabhakar, Prof. Purnima Khanna, Prof. Mohit Saini and Prof. Divya Sharma and Assistant Professors of the College.

Earlier, Principal welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of clinical legal education in transforming a law student into a good advocate and the vital role of moot courts in this transformation.  

The Presiding Officers appreciated the preparation of moot cases by the students and improvised their case preparation methodology in lieu of the actual advocacy. Such feedbacks, they said, would provide valuable opportunity to the prospective lawyers to hone both their written and oral advocacy skills in this competitive field. Other faculty members including Prof. & Dean Dr. Gunisha Saluja and  Prof. Sukhmanpreet also contributed to the event.
