30 teams for moot court competition at RBU

MOHALI: Thirty teams participated in the two-day 3rd Intra Moot Court Competition organized by University School of Law, Rayat Bahra University which concluded here today.

The semi-final round and final rounds of the competition were adjudged by experienced lawyers of Punjab and Haryana High Court and experienced academicians.  Dr MS Bains, Dean, University School of Law, Rayat Bahra University, in his inaugural address emphasized the importance of such competitions in enhancing the overall mooting and advocacy skills of young professionals.

 In the inaugural session, Dr Sonia Grewal Mahal, Vice-Principal, University School of Law, welcomed the dignitaries and the participating teams.

Harpreet Kaur Jeevan, Member Secretary, Punjab Legal Services Authority, Mohali, was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function. Prof OP Midha, Registrar, RBU and Dr MS Bains, Dean, University School of Law, presided over the Valedictory Function.

While addressing the jam-packed audience, Jeevan emphasized upon the fact that the lawyers need to own their social responsibility by ensuring social justice in society. The efforts of the Chief Coordinator Dr Sonia Grewal Mahal, Faculty Conveners Dr Kirat Grewal and Dr Jasdeep Kaur and student conveners Harlove, Gurnoor, Simurita, Vishan, Abhishek, Deepinder, Shalini and Ashmeet were highly appreciated.

Team No 1comprising of Agrim Sharma, Kinshuk Nanda and Amandeep Sharma was declared winner. Team No 29 comprising of Arshpreet Khadial, Ekpreet Multani and Barjinderjit Shergill was declared runners up. Best Memorial went to Team No 15 comprising of Deepinder Singh Walia, Latika Kalani and Naveen Garg. The award of the Best Mooter was bagged by Arshpreet Khadial while Sandeep Singh was declared Best Researcher.
