Designer wear collections of NIIFT's graduating fashion design students to be showcased at ‘Anu-kama 19’

LUDHIANA: Northern Indian Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), set up by Government of Punjab, is all set to hold Anukama 2019, a graduating show for the Fashion Design (FD) and Fashion Design (Knits) departments of NIIFT, Ludhiana at Main Auditorium, Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana, 04pm onwards on May 22, 2019.

 Details of the stylish showcase were shared by Mr. Inderjit Singh, Registrar, NIIFT, Mr. Mahesh Khanna, General Manager, District Industries Centre-cum- Centre Incharge, NIIFT, Ludhiana, Dr. Poonam Aggarwal, Principal, NIIFT and Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Show Coordinator, Anu-Kama. The young fashion designers and models of the institute were also present.
 The evening will feature 92 exquisite collections on the ramp created by the students of Fashion Design and Fashion Design (Knits) Departments of NIIFT. This final presentation is an amalgamation of the learning that the students imbibe during their education at the institute. Through the media of colors, materials, finishes and techniques, the students express individual statements as design collections. Three years of knowledge, sweat and assessment culminate at the annual ramp presentation – Anukama’19.
 The special guest for the occasion will be Smt. Vini Mahajan, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Industries & Commerce, Punjab and Chairperson, NIIFT and Sh. MS Brar, IAS, Director of Industries & Commerce, Punjab & Director General, NIIFT.
 Over 5 male and 30 female models would walk the ramp adding glam quotient to the students’ creations. Students were guided by their Mentors; Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Er. Harpreet Singh, Ms. Ramanpreet Kaur and Ms. Navneet Suman.

 The show will be coordinated by Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, who also heads the Fashion Design Department, of NIIFT Ludhiana centre. According to Ms. Rajwinder Kaur, Coordinator Anukama 2019 & HOD, FD Department "This year Anukama 2019 will have collections that were done during the semester January to April culminating in May 2019.”

 A cross section of work done by the young designers was also showcased at the press meet. The highlight of Anukama 19 is a collection named Shades of Moon. The collection has been created by Srishti. Anika has created a collection on Khadi, to promote Make in India. Ayushi created a collection, Unity in Diversity, to give a message to stand united against violence, like Pulwama attack. Mayank has created a collection by considering women sexual assault by applying social messages on garments, with a theme name on MeToo. Epic of Mahabharta is an inspiration of Garima, whereas Taj Mahal is an inspiration by Aditi Garg. One of the designer namely Paramjeet Kaur has created a non-commercial collection on Knitwears, with a theme named Dragon.
