INDIANAPOLIS: It was a celebration of Bollywood Dance. Jashn 2017 Annual Dance Showcase presented by Bollywood Beats Dance Troupe, founded by Heena and Jeeny Bhupatkar Chakrabarti enthralled the crowd which thronged the Indiana University- Prudue University Indianapolis Campus Center Thearter on Saturday night. It was organised and choreographed by Jenny Bhupatkar Chakrabarti.
Watched by chief guest renowned American Sikh artist Kanwal Prakash Singh, Danish Punjabi singer/actress Anita Hjorth Lerche and Rupal Thakker Thanawala and a sizable crowd, the artists excelled with their graceful movements and expressions.
Speaking on the occasion, KP Singh, who will be completing 50 years in USA on September 28, "I have seen myself for 50 years the evolution that has taken place here with regard to culture, spirit and talent not from the Indian continent alone but from all over the world."
Anita Hjorth Lerche commented " It was a spectacular showcase by Bollywood Beats of Indianapolis, organized and choreographed by the stunning and talented Jenny Bhupatkar. ... My little son loved the show and was still dancing and grooving hours past his bedtime."
Bollywood Beats put together one of the most spectatular performances showcasing culture, music and social issues, said Rupal Thanawala.
The programme commenced with Chak De India, a glimpse into the Indian forms around the country, both classical and folk dances.Khoobsurat was a display of Indo-Western fusiion outtits. Mardaani was a portrayal of an Indian woman's life , the biases and trials that she faces in all aspects of her existence. Performance of famous Bollywood songs by local band "Moon Tide" was emjoyed by all. Yaadon Ki Baraat was the piece de show. It displayed a journey through the decades, depicting the evolution of Bollywood Dance from mid-century to the new millennium.
Amanda and Bhavin were the hosts of the show.
Bollywood Beats is a professional dance troupe that performs at private, professional and charity events in Indiana and Illinois. Jenny has performed over 250 dance shows in India and USA.Besides Jenny, Aayushi, Deepak, Shrali, Arathi, Priyanka, Vinny, Manasevi, Jay, Aakansha, Prerna, Ritu, Vedant, Sarthak, Kati, Sofea, Sanket, Nishar, Sonali, Priya, Shruti, Shivani, Devika and Sneeha are the members of the Bollywood Beats Dance Troupe.
