Rape accused Akali leader Sucha Singh Langah to be produced in court today

GURDASPUR: Senior SAD leader Sucha Singh Langah who was arrested in a rape case would be presented in the court today. The court had extended his remand for one day when he was brought to court yesterday on completion of five days police remand.

Langah was yesterday produced in the court after 4 PM and the Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohit Bansal refused to hear the case after 4 PM. Police could not produce the accused before 4 PM due to traffic snarls due to road show of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on last day of campaigning for Gurdaspur bye-election.

Langah was finally produced before Additional civil judge (senior division) Amandeep Singh. Police demanded to extend his remand by five days. The judge however extended the remand for one day and asked police to present Langah in the court of CJP tomorrow.

Police had told the court that they wanted to recover the vehicle in which Langah used to take the rape victim girl to various places to make physical relations. Sukhjinder Singh son of Langah drove the desired vehicle to court complex and handed over the keys to the police in presence of Additional civil judge.

Langah had surrendered in the court on October 4 last after he was booked in rape, intimidation and cheating cases on the complaint of a woman constable. She alleged hat Langah had raped her for nine years giving her threats. Langah raped her first time on the pretex of giving her job in lieu of her husband who died dueing duty.

The supporters of Langah present in the court raised slogans of Sucha Singh Langah-Zindabad'. They told media persons that till the time he is convicted by the court they would not accept the allegations.

Langah was sacked by SAD from party and also excommunicated from Sikh Panth by Akal Takht.
