Punjab Vigilance nabs Head constable taking bribe Rs. 5,000

CHANDIGARH: State Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed head constable Gurpal Singh red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000/-.
Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said HC Gurpal Singh posted at Police Station Dyalpura at Bhagta Bhaika in Bathinda district was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Harpreet Singh of village Aaklia Jalal, Bathinda. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused police official was demanding Rs 10,000 to help in a police case registered against him and the deal was struck at Rs, 5,000/-.
After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused head constable was arrested on the spot taking bribe of Rs. 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. He informed that a case under different sections of prevention of corruption act has been registered against him at VB police station Bathinda and further investigation was under progress.
