CHANDIGARH:  With the Punjab and Haryana High Court formally giving its approval to implement the “E-Custody” system in the Bhondsi Jail, Gurugram, Haryana has become the first State in the Country to introduce this system for managing the online delivery of custody certificates from different jails of the State. The “E-Custody” system would be rolled out in all jails across the State within next six months.

While stating this here today, Advocate General (AG), Haryana Baldev Raj Mahajan said that system once fully implemented in all jails of the State would help in saving annual expenses to the tune of Rs 50 lakh towards Travelling Allowance besides reducing the manpower requirement significantly.

Deputy Advocate General, Himmat Singh who is also the State Nodal Officer of CCMS (Court Cases Monitoring System) said that in the first phase, the “E-Custody” system is being implemented in Bhondsi Jail, Gurugram. He said that this system has been designed by the Haryana Prison Department in association with Invader Technologies Private Limited for managing the online delivery of custody certificates from different jails of the State.

He said that the implementation of the system would not only speed up the process of justice but also help in saving the time of Court considerably. Apart from this, at least 50 employees of the Prison Department would be spared, who are currently engaged in delivering custody certificates manually. He said that the custody certificates would now be available at the click of a button and help in avoiding unnecessary adjournments.
